worsted
weight 100% wool yarn - about 8 oz - you will need two balls since the bag
is worked with two strands at once - I used all of the different colors
of leftover soaker yarn I had
size P crochet hook
LionBrand Fun Fur (optional)
Gauge:
pre-felted:
= 8 sts and 9 rows=4"
Finished Measurements:
After
felting = 24" around and 9" tall.
Instructions:
Using two strands of yarn at once
and P hook,
Foundation Round: ch 64,
join with sl st to 1st ch. Ch 1, sc in same st as joining. Sc in each sc
around.
Round 2: Join with sl st to first sc. ch 1, sc in each sc around.
Repeat rnd 2 until your work measures 13" from the beginning.
Optional: If you want to add a little pizazz to your wetbag, you
can add a strand of Fun Fur to the last two rows you sc.
Finish off.
Finishing: Turn the bag inside out. At the bottom of the tube (at the
foundation rnd) pinch in the bottom in fourths (see diagrams - courtesy
of Woolywonder.com):
Making sure you have an even number of stitches for each quarter, start
at one end of one of the green lines by joining with a sl st and st st in
the free loop of each ch across. Finish off. Then repeat across the other
green line. Weave in loose ends and turn the right side out.
Now for the felting! Let's shrink this monster
of a bag so it'll actually fit in your diaper bag!
Toss the whole thing in the washer in hot water on the heavy duty cycle.
When it's done, toss it in the dryer on high. You may have to repeat this
two to three times.
When it's good and shrunk, crochet two drawstrings about 3 feet long. Just
chain until you reach 3 feet and finish off. Very simple.
Then take the drawstrings and thread them through the top of the wetbag.
I threaded mine through the last row of sc, but you can thread it through
any row near the top that you'd like. Thread as shown (once again, courtesy
of woolywonder.com):

I found it helpful to use a crochet hook (I used a size H) to thread the
drawstrings through the stitches. You can tie the ends of each ch together
if you wish, but I prefer to leave them untied.
