A crocheted water bottle holder

Water's important no matter the weather. This water bottle holder keeps your H2O close by and your hands free. It’s a quick hook and uses just a ball of cotton yarn. You can sport this over one shoulder or make the strap a little longer and wear it across your chest.

Materials needed:

• J & P Coats, Royale Fashion size 3 Crochet Thread, or any fingering weight cotton (150 yards / 137 meters per ball), Tangerine, 1 ball
• 3.75 mm (US size F / 5) hook
• Yarn needle

Finished Measurements:

Holds a standard 16 (24) ounce water bottle. Directions are given for smaller size, with changes for larger size in parentheses.

Instructions:

Base:

Rnd 1: ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join w/ sl st to 1st sc. (8 sc)

Rnd 2: ch 1, 2 sc in ea st around. Join w/ sl st to 1st sc. (16 sc)

Rnd 3: ch 1, sc in 1st st, 2 sc in next st; *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st;* repeat from * to * around. Join w/ sl st to 1st sc. (24 sc)

Rnd 4: ch 1, sc in the first 2 sc, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat from * to * around. Join w/ sl st to 1st sc. (32 sc)

Rnd 5: ch 1, sc in the first 3 sc, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat from * to * around. Join w/ sl st to 1st sc. (40 sc)

Rnd 6: ch 1, sc in the first 4 sc, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat from * to * around. Join w/ sl st to 1st sc. (48 sc)

Rnd 7: ch 1, sc in the first 5 sc, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st,* repeat from * to * around. Join w/ sl st to 1st sc. (56 sc)

Side:

Rnd 8: *ch 6, skip next 3 sc, sl st in next sc,* repeat from * to * around to last st. Join w/ sl st in 1st sl st.

Rnd 9: sl st in next 2 ch of 1st ch-6 sp, sl st in the same ch-6 sp. Ch 6, *sl st in next ch-6 sp, ch 6,* repeat from * to * around. Join w/ sl st to first sl st.

Rnds 10-18 (10-20): Repeat rnd 9.

Rnd 19 (21): sl st in next 2 ch of 1st ch-6 sp, sc in the same ch-sp, ch 3. (sc, ch 3) in each ch-sp around. Join w/ sl st to 1st sc.

Rnd 20 (22): ch 2 (counts as 1st hdc), hdc in ea ch and sc around. Join w/ sl st to top of beg ch 2.

Strap:

Row 1: ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in next 4 hdc, turn. (5 dc)

Row 2: ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in next 3 dc, then dc in the top of the ch 3 of theprevious row.

Rows 3-64 : Repeat Row 2. Finish off. (If you would like a longer strap, just keep repeating Row 2 until the strap is the desired length.) Sew to the other side of the opening and weave in ends.
